I have no problem with er...your list except when it comes to number 8. Are you aware that you're making one of the biggest grammar mistakes of all by Capitalizing Every First Letter Of Every Word You Write? I understand if english isn't your first language or anything, but this is a clear mistake. Other than that, you're good.

*Smiles* Actually, If You Read My Journal At All, Where I've Explained This Numerous Times Already, You'll See That My CHOICE Of Capitalising Each Word Isn't "A Clear Mistake". {Or A Mistake Of Any Kind.} Nor Is It Done Out Of Ignorance. English Is My First Language And I Am QUITE Well Spoken And Articulate, Thank You! I Am Well Aware Of What Is Deemed Correct. I Simply Choose To Type In My Own Style. I Have Consciously Made A Stylistic Choice To Type The Way I Do {Deliberately} Because I Find It To Be Unique And Pretty And Because My Typing Style Makes Me Stand Out From The Crowd.

LOL! But I'm Glad That I'm "Good" As Far As The Rest Of My List Concerns You! :o)

Yes. You Have A Point. :o) I Think I Feel The Way I Do Now Because It's Happened So Many Times And Many Of The Girls Who Do It Come Off In An Almost "Stalkerish/Obsessive" Way Which Is A Little Bit Scary.

...I agree with most of the things you have here, but some of your comments also give the impression of "narrow-mindedness," which you claim to be extremely bothered by. Religious fundamentalists have as much faith in what they're doing as you do in faerie tales. Both are looking for truth in separate places. That doesn't seem to me to be a reason to hate them. Girls who have to resort to society's image of "beautiful" are probably extremely insecure about themselves, which is no reason to hate them, either. I agree it's horribly annoying, but if you stand back and make fun of them they'll just try harder to forget who they really are inside. I also agree "tough girls" shouldn't attack you for being too feminine, but making fun of them isn't doing anything besides spreading the hatred. Maybe you don't necessarily "hate" these people, but you've flamed them quite a bit.

The only other thing I would say would be your intolerance of typos... Though you might mean well, sometimes it hurts others' feelings to be corrected in such matters as spelling, because they feel like you're saying they're less intelligent and need help spelling.

People with already high self-esteem generally don't need to make fun of others to boost it...

First Of All, I Don't "Make Fun" Of Anyone. I Am Simply Not Afraid To Say What Bothers Me. I Am Not Being Cruel, I'm Not "Picking" On Anyone. I Am Not Against People Finding Faith Or Self Esteem ANYWHERE. I Am ALL FOR IT. I Simply Dislike It When They Try To Force Their Beliefs On Me As If Their Way Is The ONLY Way. I Don't Force Mine On Anyone. {I Express Them And You're Free To Think What You Will.} And I'd Prefer It Not Be Done To Me. I Am All For "Live And Let Live". And I Don't HATE The Girls Who Conform To The "Blonde, Tan, Etc." View. I Am Annoyed By Them. What I HATE Is Society Insisting That "I" Shouldn't Be Happy With MYSELF Because I Am Tiny, Pale And Redheaded. I'm Not Flaming Anyone. I'm Not Making Fun Of Anyone. I'm Merely Expressing My Opinion In What I Feel Is A Very Acceptable Way. And I Correct Typos In Quizzes And Such In My Own Journal Just Because I Prefer Things To Be Spelled Correctly. I'm Not Deliberately Singling Anyone Out And Saying "LEARN HOW TO SPELL" ::Sigh:: And If I've Ever Hurt Anyone That Way It Was TOTALLY Un~Intentional.

Hopefully You Understand My Post Here A Bit Better Now.

If you dislike typos so much, than why doesn't it bother you to capitalize the beginning of every word?

This isn't meant to be offensive, I just thought it was an interesting contradiction.

Typing style
I don't want to attack you (or make you sigh again :-) ) but I do feel that I should point out another opinion.

The way you type is considered incorrect by all "authorities" on linguistics and while there are many reasons for this that can be ignored or dismissed (because they're only "authorities", not Authorities) I think the most important reason, that's much harder to dismiss, would be that it is quite inconsiderate of you towards your readers.

While your typing style is unique it is also very hard to read; it's so unusual that it takes conscious effort for even a reader with English as their first language because it appears unnatural to the eye and makes it very hard to distinguish sentence breaks. The brain has been taught (for those who read Roman languages) to recognise the capital as inidicating a new sentence or proper noun and having every word capitalised confuses the average reader and makes them work harder trying to decipher the text. Times that work by ten for all the visually impaired users (I know there probably aren't many but that's no reason to forget them) and it becomes a very big problem!

Maybe you don't want all and sundry reading your writings and would like to restrict your readers only to the very dedicated, in which case, fine. However, if you do want a large audience and you want them to keep reading then I'd suggest modifying your typing style to something more usual.

I hope you read this and consider what I've said because I actually do enjoy what you write, just not how it is typed!

Yours sincerely,
Anonymouse

Re: Typing style
Well, I'm Glad You Shared Your Opinion In A Civilised, Polite Manner. And Here Is Mine. I Honestly Don't Feel I'm Being Inconsiderate To Anyone. I'm Not Forcing Anyone To Read My Journal If My Typing Style Bothers Them. I Find My Style No Different {As Far As Difficulty To Read} Than The "Accepted" Style Of Typing. {Words Are Words.} And Neither Do 99.9% Of My Friends List. It's All A Matter Of Taste And Opinion. I Like The Way I Type And It Doesn't Bother The Many People On My Friends List, Therefore, I Don't Feel That I Am At All Inconsiderate And I Am Not About To Change Something I've Been Doing For Years Just Because There Are Those Whom It Annoys. Especially When I'm Not Hurting Anyone. I Hope You Can Understand That. I Am Sorry You Don't Like My Typing Style, But It's Part Of Who I Am, And If You Want To Read My Journal Then You Have To Accept That.

Re: Typing style
Actually, anonymouse is correct. Capitalization is so deeply entrenched in our visual process that writing in all caps creates a struggle for the reader. Perhaps all of the people on your friends list can read what you write fine, and, in fact, anyone should be able to, but the problem is not that what you are writing is incomprehensible, it's just difficult to read because it violates the ingrained visual grammars. Stylistically, I must say, this is not unique, I've encounted this particular "style" plenty of times, mostly younger girls though.
You are incorrect, though. Words are not just words. It's not that black and white. Intended meaning, semantic meaning, tone, stress, implicature, etc. all play a very important role in how a word is read/heard/understood. If a word is presented in an unusual way, in an unfamiliar context, it becomes more difficult for the reader to understand it.

That being said, as this is your blog, you are free to express yourself anyway you want, regardless of how it may affect the readers. However, there are obviously more people outside of your friends list who read your journal to whom this "style" is a jarring and ineffective way of transmitting information. There is a whole philosophy behind this which is comprised by four conversational maxims in H.P. Grice's theory of implicature, plus, of course, more.

Anyway, I only bring it up because while it may be exasperating to explain yourself, keep in mind that, fundamentally, you are violating a orthographical, grammatical, and (prescriptive) linguistic rule. These people who have already commented are technically correct, and you are technically incorrect. You're free to do what you want, but you're not free from the consequences.

Just because I've responded to it, doesn't mean it wasn't difficult to read. After all, you weren't here when I was trying to decipher it the first time.

Anyway, don't take these as attacks. Write as you will as this is your own journal, I just meant to show that there is veracity in what the others were saying.

You shouldn't change. This is a well-established trend of yours, and it has come to be recognized by your friends. Of course your opinion on the matter counts, because it is people who create and change language. I was only saying that on a fundamental level, the original posters were correct. Technically. That's no reason to fight, of course, just an observation.

No Problem. The Truth Is, I Have Absolutely No Problem With People With Darker Skin. Or With Them Finding Themselves Beautiful. They Should. There Is Beauty In Every Size, Shape, Colour. What I Have A Problem With Is The Idea That A Lot Of People Have That You Must Be Skinny, Tanned And Blonde Haired With Large Breasts {A Barbie Type} To Be Beautiful. I Am Against People Who Are Naturally Pale Tanning And Putting Themselves At Risk For Skin Cancer Because They're Told That Pale Isn't Beautiful. :o) If Your Skin Is Naturally Dark, I Wouldn't Want You To Try To Lighten It And If You're Pale, I Don't Think You Ought To Darken It. Everyone Is Beautiful Just As They Are. And People Can Say Lots Of Things And Jump To Lots Of Incorrect Conclusions About People, Especially On The Internet. I Hope This Helps You To Understand. :o)

Concerning #7 -

This is myself, a modern college-aged Grand Duchess Prudence with a band-aid on her face thanks to her foolish controlling pride.

Do you find me to be too masculine? I ask this because I felt odd for joining [Bad username: _feminissima_"] in the first place. Obviously, I have an interest in fairy tales and I certainly know myself and my place in the fairy tale universe and how it connects to the real world. The problem is, I'm not the princess type - nor do I claim or desire to be. I have nothing against the princess types; they are my greatest friends. However, I am more of an "intellectual female dandy," so to speak. And, yes, I am more masculine than the majority of my female friends. ~

#7 Is About The Hyper Feminist Girls Who Want EVERY Girl To Think Like Them And Be "Tough" The Way They Are. And Try To Force Their Beliefs On Those Of Us Who Are "Princess Types" And That's Not You At All! *Big Hugs*

so wut do u think of ppl who type lik this? is it ez 2 read? wud it annoy u 2 c this all teh time? does it make ur fingers itch to fix teh mistakes? does it frustrate u 2 have 2 translate this jibberish 2 normal words?

This is just something for you to think about; no response is necessary. But my strong suspicion is that it annoys you just as much as it does me when people choose to type incorrectly. Do it if you like; I fully support your right to do what makes you happy. However, do recognize that it's incredibly hypocritical to consider other peoples' typographical errors a pet peeve when you're making one in every single word you type. What divine power makes it okay for you to do it, but not anyone else?

And you're absolutely right: you're not forcing anyone to read your journal. However, you are a frequent commenter in one of my friends' journals, so I can't exactly avoid you. Every time I see one of your comments, I get terribly annoyed trying to read it, not only because it's wrong, but also because of the blatant hypocrisy of your actions.

I was saddened by number six on this list. Not all people who rely on logic are "Vulcan Types", some of us are just wired to think more with our heads than with our hearts.

And frankly, if it weren't for logical folk like me, our lives would not be so cushy as they are now. But at the same time, without people like you, we'd be missing out on the great arts.

So please reconsider your opinion. Logic, like emotion, has its place.

Good Point. And Very True. In This Statement I Guess I Wasn't Expressing Myself Clearly Enough. I Don't Really Have A Problem With Logic Or Logical People. {My Husband Is Very Logical} Just Those I've Encountered Who Carry It To An Incredible Extreme, Refusing To Even Consider That Things That Can't Be Measured By Scientific Criteria Could Possibly Exist And Then Mocking Or Treating As Idiotic And Unintelligent Those Who Are Open~Minded Enough To Consider The Posibility. I Hope This Explains My Feelings A Bit Better. :o)
