I used to say that, too. It's not so bad when you try it, though.

Kewl. I heard she was a bitch, but I'm sure the bitchiness was blended out over the generations before it got to you! I'm descended from some French Huguenots - no one that interesting I don't think. I'm something like 1/64th French, it's hardly worth bothering about!

Re: charles II
An Anne Boleyn-style bitch then. This may be a dangerous thing to say to a Kathryn Howard fan, but Anne was the best out of all of them. Jane Seymour = poop, naturally.

Didn't Nell Gwynne manage to get a title for her kid by dangling him over a balcony or something? Michael Jackson take note.

Re: charles II
It's a good 'un.

I'm afraid I only like the political schemers in history. Eleanor of Aquitaine, Elizabeth Woodville, Magaret of Anjou as well as many others, too many to mention.

Have you read Falling Angels? You are definitely Lavinia.

BTW this is abnormal_entity but I deleted that Livejournal

Hullo! I'd Suspected That Was You! :o)
And I've Got A Deep Affinity For All of The Ladies You Mentioned Above! Especially Marguerite D'Anjou! I've Not Read *Falling Angels* But I Shall Look Into It Upon Your Suggestion.......

Re: charles II
Lavinia ain't too bad really. You're not actually as bad as her, as she can be a bit nasty and you aren't, as far as I can tell. But she is a girly girl and likes fluffy things and angels (hence the name of the novel).

I'm surprised you like Margaret of Anjou - she wasn't exactly romantic! More a 'Lets-go-kill-Yorkists' kind of person.

*Giggles* I Shall Definitely Have To Check Out That Book Now! :o)
And As For Marguerite D'Anjou....... She Wasn't Very *Romantic*, True, But Remember {LOL!} I'm ALSO A *Little Bundle Of Contradictions* AND A Bratty Redhead Who Greatly Admires Fortitude And Determinatation, Which Marguerite D'Anjou Had In SPADES! And I'm Also Quite Lancastrian In My Leanings When It Comes To The WotR.......So I See Marguerite D'Anjou As A Sort Of Jeanne D'Arc Type And So In A Way She *Is* Romantic! {Confuzzling, Isn't It?}

Of course, we're not exactly arguing about who's going to be king next. It's more a case of 'You bashed my car into the gate on purpose' 'No I didn't' 'You did..' 'Well you borrowed my red top in 1974 and you never gave it back' etc.

Hi :) I'm interested in a lot of the stuff you talk about, but I know relatively little about it, so if it's all right, can I ask you a few questions?

I Spend A Great Deal Of Time Yearning For Bygone Eras

Do you think you'd be comfortable with the standards of hygiene in place back then? I'm interested in past lives but I don't know a whole lot about the research and personal stories that are involved in the field. This is what I usually think of when I wish I were born during a different time. I realize that if I were born in 1560, for example, I wouldn't know that cleanliness standards were worse than they are now, but if I myself (with my modern sensibilities) somehow found myself in 1560, I think cleanliness would be one of my first concerns. How do you feel about this?

I Love *Moon~Bathing* {As Opposed To The FOUL Practice Of *SUN~Bathing*}

Is it that you prefer the sunlight as it's reflected off the moon? You seem to really hate sun-bathing - is it because it comes from the sun directly and that the moon is reflected light, or something else?

Thanks :)

Hi! It's Nice To Meet You!

To Answer Your Questions: I Read A Lot And I Remember A Lot So I'm Familiar With The Wretched Conditions Concerning Hygiene {Which Was Even Bad For The Stellar Wealthy} In Most Of My Favourite Time Periods. Therefore, My Longing Is A Fanciful One, For The Sort Of "Velour History" In Period Films And Romaticized Books {And At The Renaissance Fayre For The Most Part.} I'm Aware Of The Reality, But It's Lovely To Dream And Fantasize Of It Being Ideal, You Know? ::Smiles::

And Moon~Bathing Is All About Playing And Being Outside Under The Moon's Softer, Gentler Light. I Adore The Luminescence Of Light, But I'm Incredibly Pale And Can't Take The Heat Of The Sun For More Than A Few Minutes Without Getting Physically Ill And Burning Terribly! :o)

Thanks for answering! It is nice to dream about past times being ideal. I don't think that as I am now, I would enjoy living in medieval times as they actually were, as much as I'd like to visit them. Maybe just a short visit would be best :)

I know what you mean about the sun - my fiancee gets sunburnt very easily, and my mother gets heat rash if she's out in it for too long. I can remember the first time I realized that moonlight can be bright enough to cast a shadow, and it just made me so happy.

You know, in regards to point the nineteenth, I am upset when people mistake certain figures in history to have been stupid when they were actually anything but. They were playing their cards right. It's not just those of today that misjudge, however. Comte de Mercy wrote to Queen Maria Theresa of Austria about la Comtesse de Noailles, describing her as having "so little character or cleverness." (The ending of his sentence reads "so little character or cleverness that it is impossible to make her see reason as the best means of discharging her duties," but the point certainly still remains.)
